Standard's Initiative for Stockton School


INTRODUCTION

All Cherry Hill Schools are part of the district Standards Initiative.  This means that the district standards for each curriculum area drive instruction.  The standards and their accompanying benchmarks determine what is taught and what our students are expected to learn.

 

DEFINITIONS

Standard 

A general statement of what the student should know and be able to do.

Benchmark

Indicators for the standard; more specific statements

Assessment

On-going checking of where the student is in relation to achieving the standard.

Anchor Paper

Paper that serves as a model for attaining a specific level on the rubric.

Rubric

A set of scoring guidelines for evaluating student work.

        The student reads to pursue personal reading goals to satisfy curiosity, to build     imagination and to enjoy reading.  

Benchmark

        Sustains interest in reading by regularly reading silently and independently for at least 20 minutes daily.
